SPRINGTIME!!!
This is my favorite time of year. Many people don't like it because it so soggy, muddy and rainy out. I love it. The misty air, the smell of the ground unthawing, the return of warm sunshine, cool mornings and warm afternoons.

I remember playing in puddles in the back yard, attempting to fish from the standing water in our back yard (there is no fish in puddles by the way), and just going out and getting generally muddy.

Today just made me very happy by being a wonderful first day of spring.

Nicole and Me, friends for . . . . 14 years? its been a while. :D

Nicole with the two soon-to-be Grandmas.

I had a great time yesterday at Nicole's shower. It has been far too long since we were able to hang out for a couple hours. Nathan and Nicole are expecting a Boy (name yet to be chosen) in the middle of May.

Prayers for my cousin and his family

My cousin Marty has just been diagnosed with gastric cancer. He's only 23 and in the Navy.

Some excerpts from his blog on facebook:

"I have finished the appointment with the oncologists, and there wasn't much good news to be said. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 gastric cancer. (a rare form called Linitus Plastica or leather bottle stomach) I have been told that I have 9 to 18 months to live. That is the average, and I'm expected to do better than that based on my age, otherwise good health, the most positive attitude ever, and the fact that they are going to throw the largest chemotherapy regiment they can at me. "
" On the bright side, blood tests show that my body knows that it has cancer, and has already been attacking the bad cells. A sort of lucky natural chemotherapy, but it definitely needs assistance. Further surgery has been halted until the Mayo doctors look at me and decide what they want to do. Since this has spread, they might not do surgery at all since it wouldn't be contained to the stomach anymore. Thanks to everyone for the support and prayers and know that I am the toughest guy out there and I will not lose to this. I am going to fight through this after all I have a family and friends, a career, the world to see, and an upcoming engagement to live for!"

It so scary that it came so quickly. :(

Playing the waiting game . .
Still haven't heard from the U of Mn. Everyday I check the mail, and everyday i try to figure out if I am happy that i didn't find an envelope. If there was a way to know if I got in, without the initial "finding out" i'd like to be able to do that.
We had fun this weekend. We went up to duluth for some snowboarding on all the snow we had watched fall all week. After shoveling ourselves a path to my sisters, we settled in for the night and had a blast the next couple days snowboarding.
here are some pictures.
